Airport Transfers:

  • Airport transfer by  car x 6.
    (This is to accomodate luggage).
  • Hire cars will be provisioned – circa 4-5 people per car.
  • Anyone can drive the cars.
  • Speeding/Fines will be the responsibility of the driver.

What documentation do I need to drive?

You need to have with you at all times of driving:

  • Valid driving licence
  • Passport
  • Car hire and insurance documents – these will be left in the glovebox once the cars have been handed over to us.

Buses

  • Tracy and I use them a fair bit, very easy to use and the driver is normally a British Lady.
  • The L3 is a circular route of the whole of the Playa, takes 1hr from start to end and back to start again.
  • Pickup time at hotel is 20 past the hour (ish)
  • €1.20 one-way – ideally correct change but they will take upto a €10 note.
  • It’s ideal for getting to other bars/restaurants along the coast.
  • For return leg, check the nearest busstop for timings.
  • Last bus home is around 9pm ish
  • L1 and L2 can take you to Vera or the Mojacar Pueblo (Mojacar main town in the hills/mountain).

Hotel Parking

  • Hotel parking by reception is very full and should be chargeable.
  • Consequently we tend to park by the Padel Courts, this is left open all the time and always has parking space.
  • The entrance road/track to the Padel Courts is at the end of the bridge and signposted.
  • NB When leaving the Padel Court Road/track, it is left turn only.

Taxi’s

  • They are very cheap, cheaper than using the bus if there are 3 or more of you.
  • These number’s were the last ones I noted down, but you will see numbers on the side of the taxi’s so I suggest taxing a pic of one to get the number.
  • +34 613 29 13 64
  • +34 647 93 57 19

Meals out and general car use

  • As there are restaurant options most evenings, there will be a requirement for some drivers, we will “Squash” into cars to minimise the number of vehicles required.
  • If you want to self-explore during free time, the cars are available, on a first come first served basis or use the buses.

Driving in Spain

  • Speeding – the Guardia Civil / Police will issue instant fines or via the Car Rental company (who will charge an additional admin fee)
  • Speed traps – these are often randomly setup on the side of the road and you will not know they are there. (A small up right post, with camera and sensor).  However generally oncoming traffic will frantically be “Flashing” at you , to make you aware.
  • STOP signs/road markings – these are at most major junctions.  You must come to a physical stop, even if there is no traffic around.
The Guarda Civil have been known to hide and pounce out for any offence, even if no other traffic is around.
  • Cyclist – Mojacar area is a “Cyclists Paradise” similar to UK regulations:
Overtaking a cyclist must be at a maximum of 20 km/h below the speed limit applicable to the stretch of road on which they are travelling and the overtaking vehicle must leave a minimum lateral separation of 1.5 metres.
Typically everyone gives them a wide birth, basically overtaking on the opposite lane.

  • The hotel mainly caters for Spanish guests, very few Englisg are ever there.  Consequently:
    • NO beach/pool towels provided
    • No kettle, so no coffee/tea making facilities in the room,
    • There is a fridge, which 1.5ltr water bottles fit in, but the fridge is not at an “Ice Cool” temp.
    • There is a safe in each room.
  • Hotel Meals – it is a large buffet style canteen/restaurant
    • Breakfast 8am – 10.30am
    • Lunch 1.30pm – 3pm
    • Dinner 8.00pm – 10pm
  • Drinks at Lunch/Dinner in hotel:
    • You will be provided with a “Ticket” at each meal, there is a drinks table order service. Once you finish your meal take the ticket to the Buffet Checkout desk by the entrance.
    • Wine – if you order wine, it will come as a bottle €10.50 (house), if you do not drink it all, they will put your room number on it, and save if for your next meal (Chilled)…. but who ever leaves an open bottle of wine???
  • Room Heating/cooling.  It’s worth leaving a room key/loyalty card or similar in the “Key card Switch” by the room door, this will leave the electric/ventilation on.
From experience to keep the room cool, do not switch the aircon on.  (It doesn’t seem to cool the rooms down very well!)

    • Keep curtains closed
    • Set the controller on Fresh air and 30° – from experience this really cools the room down, to around 20°.
  • Wifi – the hotel has good WiFi coverage and speeds at peak season dip down to 30mb down – 12mb up.  Perfectly adequate, even if you need to hop on a Teams/Zoom meeting
  • Beach/Pool Towels – the hotel does not supply them, so you either need to bring your own or use the bathroom towels or you can buy them for circa €7
  • Towels – you need to consider taking towels (hotel’s or your own) to the different external Padel venues, where you have the option of showering.
  • Iron – these are available from reception
  • Laundry – there is the usual “Paid for” laundry facility you would expect from a hotel. Circa €5 per sports garment.   I will have washing powder sheets so you can hand wash clothes should you want

Short answer: Yes

  • Almost everyday from lunchtime onwards is free time,
  • All Padel and training is “Optional” but hopefully everyone will commit to most mornings and the tournament at the weekend.

Other Activities – see Hotel website for full details – Click here

  • Onsite there is bike hire
  • Gym / pool / spa
  • Walking pack

We will be using various different venues.

The courts generally have more sand on them than ours, and the condition will not be as new.

Quite often the top mesh behind you will be just a little stronger than “Chicken wire”  but it’s the same for everyone playing.

Do not be surprised if there are miniature sand dunes against the edges, this is quite typical of outside courts in Spain.

  • Hotel Courts – 3 Glass + 1 Concrete
  • Puerto Rey – 2 Glass + 9 Concrete – located about 15 mins drive from the hotel.  Venue details
  • Sama’s – 4 Glass Courts – located next to the hotel, outside reception car park.  However this is undergoing a rebuild/refurb, scheduled to be finished in June…. but Mañana in Spain can mean, anytime in the future!
  • Parador – 2 Glass Courts – located 10 min drive from the hotel.  This is a beautiful venue located on the main strip, overlooking the Beach.  We have to book direct with the hotel, the prices fluctuate depending on the receptionist!  But work on €38 per court for 2 hours.  Venue Details
  • Padel Elite – Almeria (covered courts) – 1hr drive away, tournament against Spanish, 6 Glass courts Venue Details

  • There are local shops that do provide some padel equpment, but they are a drive away (30 mins)
  • There is a new tube of balls provisioned per room + spares to cover tournament.
  • These balls will be placed in the boot of each car to ensure they turn up!
